Average weekly earnings cover a pretty wide spectrum in Kentucky. The higher income counties have almost double the average weekly earnings of the lower income counties. This is the initial chart using the first quarter 2019 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and that is the latest data available. Planned analysis includes determining how far they are from the state average and a more detailed look at what makes the higher earning counties maintain that economic status. The average weekly earnings number may not provide a very useful picture for county rankings since areas with very high incomes can produce a higher average. More metrics will be analyzed and included on this site as I proceed with detailed looks at competing regions.
